Art Shop taken over by Adrian Murcott
PictureBox, the picture framing and art shop in Tring
High Street has recently changed ownership and local resident Adrian Murcott has bought the business from Elizabeth Land.
Adrian has a wealth of experience in business and PictureBox will remain as a family run concern. Elizabeth
would like to thank all of her loyal customers over the last few years and is confident the business has been passed to a
safe pair of hands. Adrian said “I am looking to build on the solid foundation and reputation that
PictureBox has gained over the last 15 years”. Adrian will continue to offer a range of bespoke framing services
in the heart of Tring with a strong focus on quality of service. PictureBox will also be offering a next
day service on popular frames for those who need a quick turnaround. “We can frame virtually anything”
says Adrian.
Our services include:-
Framing in a wide variety of wooden, metal and acrylic
frames
Mount cuttingHeat sealing - great for pictures in kitchens and bathrooms
and for maps or charts
Picture refurbishment and reglazingStretching and re-stretching of canvas pictures
Mounting
and framing of cross-stitch and embroidery
Framing a range of items from signed football shirts
to ornaments
Conservation framing - which will appeal to local artists and those framing more expensive
and historic works providing the ultimate protection. “We are also looking to offer
services for the 21st century to enable people to transfer their favourite pictures and high resolution digital
photos onto canvas rather than just viewing them online” says Adrian who is working with Luis Costa. A
number of these pictures are on display in the shop and the Robin Hood pub and the clarity and colour of the pictures is outstanding.
Keep an eye on the window display, which will be changing
on a regular basis, for quality works of art including many by local artists to suit all occasions and tastes.
PictureBox will also be keeping a range of standard sized readymade picture frames and mounts in stock so customers
can mix and match and take them away. This will include A4 certificate frames in gold, black and silver.
Art Shop for sale Art gallery and framing business Picture Box in High Street, Tring,
has been put up for sale.
The shop has been an integral part of the
town centre for at least 15 years and owner Elizabeth Land is a reluctant seller.
She explained: "My father recently
passed away and my mother is recovering from heart bypass surgery. I have therefore been spending an increasing amount of
time visiting her in Wales.
"I simply cannot commit the same time and energy that the shop deserves. I am lucky
that I have some very patient customers who have been incredibly understanding whilst friends and family have looked after
the shop for me."

Picture Box awarded first prize for the best apple themed window
This
year's Apple Week saw Picture Box win first prize for a second year running.
The 'Magner's theme'
was a little more cryptic than last year but Mayor Nick Hollinghurst recognised the 'apple cider' link.
Thanks
go to the locals of The Castle and The Robin Hood for drinking the Magners and emptying a barrel of beer.
